Poetry flourishes in Henan since always, where plenty of famous poets sprang up in Han Wei Tang Song era. The quality of poems declined slightly in Yuan and Ming. When it comes to Qing, Henan poetry was less prosperous than that in regions south of the Yangtze River. But it still had a lot of composers and works, and remains to be essential.Throughout the literary history, literatures have distinctive regional features, especially in Qing poetry. So what course did Henan poetry in Qing go through? Does it synchronize with the whole country? If not, what’s its unique patterns or specialties? Such questions are necessary to be discussed.On account of the special place that early Qing occupies in history and culture, the article studies this period of Henan poetry first. Through analyses, comparisons and summarizations, the author explores poets’emotions, poems’characteristics and systemizes the growth of Henan poetry in Qing. In the end, the evolution patterns and features are revealed.In The Introduction, the conception of Henan poetry is defined first, followed by its evolution outline. Some relative research achievements are presented thirdly and then is the significance of this study. Research strategy is illuminated in the end.Body covers five chapters. Chapter Ⅰ, The Initiative of Henan Poetry in Early Qing and Wang Duo, explains the pioneer Wang’s theories and poems, and his enormous influence. Chapter Ⅱ, Henan Poetry during Ming Qing Transition, distinguishes Henan poems during transitional period from other regions. Chapter Ⅲ, Henan Poems Composed by Qing Poets, analyzes Qing poets’emotions and works, and discusses the differences between them and the one during Ming Qing transition. Chapter Ⅳ, Poems under Kangxi or Yongzheng Regime, illustrates the change of Henan poetry during thriving period. Chapter V, Song Luo and the Development of Poetry in Early Qing, concludes the evolution of Henan poetry during early Qing.This developing course embodied the nationwide poems to some degree, but also has its own characteristics.The final section wraps up the whole article and reveals its research value. This article has two appendixes:the table of Henan’s administrative divisions in Qing, and a collection of Henan poems during early Qing. The former appendix provides a reference to this study, while the latter includes all the known anthologies of poets’ work, and introduces existing references.
