The Relationship Between Yilin And Confucian Classics And The Literature’s And History’s Value Of Yilin

The book Yilin was written by Jiao Yanshou, which used the poem with fourcharacters to a line, probed a lot of allusions from the Book of Songs. Yilin also imitated andinnovated the mode of Zhouyi. So Yilin has strong literature meaning. Yilin probed a lot ofallusions from classics of the Pre-Qin Period, which let it had strong literary value andhistorical value. But there is no book to investigates, expounds and studies the relationshipbetween Yilin and Confucian Classics. So under this research context, studying therelationship among Yilin, Zhouyi and Zuozhuan, and then exploring the literary value andhistorical value of Yilin has become meaningful.Yilin probed Zhouyi, because of Jiao Yanshou’s Yi-ology origin. JiaoYanshou studiedthe Yi-ology from Mengxi and Jiao’s Yi-ology passed on to Jingfang. From the Yi-ology ofJiaoYanshou, we can find Jiao Yanshou, Mengxi and Jingfang coming down in onecontinuous line. Sometimes Yilin probed Zhouyi directly, sometimes Yilin borrowed wordsand philosophy from Zhouyi. Yilin inherited and innovated the augury, Yixiang and thethought of Yi-ology which came from Zhouyi.Zuozhuan has not used by the Central Government, but it was popular among thepeople. There is no doubt Jiao Yanshou studied and teached Zuozhuan, because the mind-setand the thought of Yi-ology of Yilin were coincide with Zuozhuan. When Yilin probedallusions and words from Zuozhuan, JiaoYanshou can closely related to the age. Yilin probedallusions and words from Zuozhuan, because all of them were uniform on mind-set andfeatures of times.Yilin has more literary value because of probing allusions. From Wangyu of TangDynasty, after Huang Bosi, Chao Gongwu, Chen Zhensun, Xue Jixuan of Song Dynasty, toZhongxin, Tan Yuanchun of Ming Dynasty, there was a long time to find the literary valueof Yilin. Yilin was set store by writers and poets, because it has special literary value, such as it can conflate the “lixiang” and “bixing”, well inherits the tradition of realistic spirit fromChinese poets, exploits subjects of poetry, displays strong lyrical expressions in Yilin andimages the abstract emotion. Yilin influenced the later literature, the later literary menprobed Yilin in their works, used Yilin to note ancient poems and imitate it. Yilin alsoinfluenced the later pop literature, such as novels and antithetical couplets. Of course, Yilin’sliterary value also influenced the later works of Yi-ology.The historical value of Yilin embodied in that Yilin continued and developed theChinese traditional historiography thought, such as “Spring And Autumn Strokes”,“Nothidden calligraphy” and “change” thinking, in that Yilin recorded the Western Han Dynastyhistory. Yilin continued the missed “images of Change” from Zhouyi, developed the road ofusing images of Zhouyi, successfully noted the words, images and philosophy of Zhouyi thatcan help people to understand Zhouyi correctly. Yilin has important Yi-ology value, for itplays an important role in transmission in the history of Yi-ology.
