After experiencing four stages of development, from Spring and Autumen Period to Five dynasties, the research on the "Book of Songs" had established an interpretation system, which was guided by "Mao poetry", and had a feature of chapters division and gloss. In Song Dynasty, the research on the "Book of Songs" made a further development. This was attributed to its basic state policy of paying attention to civil services, Nine Classics inscription and improvement of woodblock printing technology, its main contradiction of society, questioning of the past research and Neo thinking, its own development law. After experiencing four stages of development in Song Dynasty, another interpretation system was established, which was famous for suspecting and emphasizing argumentative elucidation. But we can not say there were only rationalist School in Song Dynasy. In fact, there were also textual school in this period.So we can not equate between reserch on "Book of Songs" in Song Dynasty and one of its features.The scholars in Song Dynasty studied music of the "Book of Songs", its era, its sorting out, and so on. We should pay more attention to these studies.For example, how to determine "Zhou Nan" and "Zhao Nan" by Ouyang Xiu, how to determint the creation time of "Shang Song" by Fan Chuyi, how to its music by Cheng Dachang, and how to discourse "Bin Feng" by Liu Chang, and so on. These theises were very novel, and they all had a high value. The scholars launched a debate around auther of the Preface of the "Book of Songs" and how to divide the Preface. Some scholars believed the Preface, and the others did not. Even suspicing the Preface had experienced a lengthy process. At fist, they suspected its last sentence.Next, they suspected its fist sentence. Next, they suspected the Large Order. At fist, they suspected a few of Orders. Next, they suspected most of them. But this did not mean that there was only one roadmap. We have to admit that some sholars did inherite the Preface. The scholars also studied argumentation of the "Book of Songs". Some scholars studied the book by political level, and some scholars studied it by ethics level, and some scholars studied it by emotion and morality, and some scholars studied it by intellect and desire.The scholars did not explain the words one by one, but they did give us new meaning of "the book of songs". Why? Fist, they evented some new concepts. Ou Yang-xiu proposed to acquire original meaning of "the book of songs", and Zhang Zai suggested to read "the book of songs" clamly, and Cheng Hao and his brother and their students proposed to read "the book of songs" over and over again, and Zhu Xi suggested to interpretate "the book of songs" without taking notice of "what Mao said ". In short words, they wanted to interpretate "the book of songs" by reading the text. With this idea, they tried some new methods.For example, they introduced feelings, innate laws of things, the law of literature to interpretate "the book of songs", and they tried to interpretate "the book of songs" from the angle of "Bi" and" Xing", and they quoted many books to support their point of view.
