Chapter1would card the multiplerelations between literature and film, including discussing how to understandcinematographic adaptation correctly and illustrating the complexity of such issue throughdetailed cases; discussing the presentation and illustration of film towards literary works;discussing literary works especially how are novels and films combined and differed fromeach other as two different kinds of arts.Chapter2and chapter3would discuss the narrative function of film, internal relationbetween film and literary criticism, film and cross-cultural dialogue, etc. through usingdetailed adaptation cases. Chapter2would firstly discuss how film would become a newnarrative art in visual times nowadays, explain the detailed poetics issue and discuss themutual replacement of words and graphics in film narrative process from an inter-textualityperspective. Chapter3would see film adaption as a new literary critic method and wouldstart from the major viewpoints in The Secular Scripture: A Study of the Structure ofRomance (Northrop Frye) together with the film Adaptation to conduct a case discussion inhow film accesses and influences the real world as a new romantic imagination. And later on this chapter would analyze the shooting and production of Orlando (Virginia Woolf) todiscuss how gender criticism is presented in modern film adaptation.Chapter4would discuss the dialogues between literature and film adaptation fromdifferent cultural aspects and multiple perspectives. Firstly, this chapter would analyze theadaptation film to discuss the innovation and revolution modern film producers have madeto overcome the influences of traditions and authorities. And then this chapter would usefilm that reflects the Nazi atrocity as a case to discuss how film and literature worktogether to record and reappear the past and activate people’s self-examination towards theold history.
