Among them, the discussion of good and evil is one of the basic problems those all the various sects of Buddhism are concerned with.In short,it is an important proposition by which human being Buddhism can live a real life well and improve life morality. In deep words,it has in-depth discussion about the relative truth and the absolute truth only as the one that Mahayana Buddhism transcends good and evil,Pali-anatta and Para-artha.The systematic study on the Buddhist thought of good and evil has a very important significance indeed from the angle of the academic study of Buddhism. If the religions and the science are not very strictly distinguished, people tend to think the science focuses on truth and there ligions focus on goodness. People also think that all the religions have the common characteristics of giving others good and advising people to do good deeds. However, If we want to do professional study, we must carry on the strict definition of "good" and "evil". That is to say, what is good and what is evil? Are good and evil subjective or objective? What is the standard of the judgement? The concrete answers to these questions will bring about all kinds of religions distinguished. And we can see the ideological characteristics of the Buddhist from them. The Buddhist scriptures have much description of the definition of good and evil from the angle of metempsychosis, the mentality theory and the objective truth and the ultimate reality. We need to have clear eyes to look for a clear path so that we can climb to a high place and see the true features of Buddhism in a lush ideological forest. And then we will find that the contents of the Buddhist thought of good and evil are broad-minded and rich just like a mountain. As we know, Buddhism has a strong human nature and superhuman nature just like its founder Shakya Muni. Prince Siddartha was a real person, but he gave up the glory to become a monk for seeking relief. After obtaining relief, Shakya Muni still returned to the secular life for the social moralizing work. Firstly the Buddhist thought of good and evil has human nature. Its goal is stopping evil and doing good deeds to pursue this-worldly happiness. Secondly it has superman nature. Its goal is cutting off evil to transcend the life samsara to obtain relief. Finally it achieves superman nature in the secular world. This kind of wisdom and compassion that good is just evil is returning to the real life to realize the infinite life value. Such a circle is actually an annotation of the logic of the contents Buddhist good and evil.On the basis of the specific contents of good and evil, we will have more in-depth inquiry. It can be expanded into two dimensions. The one is that good and evil must have deep principle, bearing subject and presenting features. We can summarize this level as the appearance. At the same time, the human nature and the superman nature revealed in the contents of good and evil are relative to mind and life, and the transcendence of mind and life. This level is the "immanence" and the "transcendence"of good and evil. The first one can be expanded into the three questions. Are good and evil possible? And whose good and evil are they? Is good or evil the human nature? In the Buddhist view, the existence of all the things has karma conditions. So good and evil are created in karma conditions. The subject is the dependent origination and the non-entity. There are obvious different features between human beings and the other five kinds of life forms. But they also have overlapping and intercrossing in a potential level. Fundamentally speaking, the features of human beings are still the dependent origination. The latter can be expanded into the three questions. Where are good and evil? And where is the ultimate way of good and evil? Are the dwelling place and the way out of good and evil isolated or harmonious each other? For understanding them easily,we have the necessity to follow the logic from the generality to the particularity.Firstly we consider the relationship between the dwelling place and the way out. Actually the dwelling place and the way out are not the transfer of space but the turning of the heart. It is the immanence or the transcendence attributed to the delusion and the enlightenment of the heart. On this basis, we will uncover the two answers:the delusion of the heart will bring about the immanence and the enlightenment of the heart will bring about the. Transcendence. Both the delusion and the enlightenment of the heart are carried out in the life and the mind. Finally we must make an overall assessment of the Buddhist good and evil. From stopping evil and doing good deeds to transcending good and evil, we will find that Buddhism concerns the subjectivity of human most. It cognizances the objective real equality, practices the positivity of physical and mental transformation and becoming more harmonious. In the tortuous and difficult process of the exploration, we discuss the Buddhist thought of good and evil basing on the text interpretation and the analysis of the thought. Thus the conclusion is that the Buddhist thought of good and evil follows the basic rules of dependent origination and emptiness of nature, and it manifests the complex contents of the appearance and the subject essence. And this is the cause that Buddhism regards them as the only one being into the secular world to practice and being out of the secular world practice to transcend, living steadfastly and pursuing loftily. In short, the rich levels and the complex contents of the Buddhist thought of good and evil are not only complicated and intricate, but also one principle running through them all.The Buddhist thought of good and evil can be truthfully cognized only by the internal in-depth understanding and the external clear grasp. | Keywords/Search Tags: | good and evil, dependent origination, emptiness ofnature, immanence, transcendence | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
