Implications Of Singing And Dancing——Aesthetic Research About The Musical Film

Being a film genre though, musical films have different artistic features compared with other genre films such as action films, love story films, science fiction films and comedy films. It constructs its unique aesthetic characteristics through a certain self-disciplinary form and the combination of music and dance. It bestows a humanity value upon the beautiful form, and presents us an aesthetic space purer and more imaginative than reality. Transferring between the narrating parts and the music and dance, the excellent musical films are able to melt the hard needs of reality and, through the combination of narratives and lyrics, of reality and non-reality, practice a’surrealistic’artistic pursuit. It sets up a moral ideal in confirming the humanistic values, and boasts the value of the true, the good and the beautiful as well as humanity care from a "comprehensive aesthetics" perspective by melting the conflict between reality and ideal through the narration of music and dance.Concretely, musical film represents a real and sensible desire of life through the creativity and life force expressed by the singing and dancing body. It returns music and dance back to humanity education through an attractive story, thus creates an independent dreaming place out of the limits of time and space, giving the individual an illuminated feeling. It brings us a kind of Maslow’s poetic and mysterious rapture, and a shaking cordiality depicted by Gadamer. It represents the independent spirit for us to confirm the basic values of secular life and to go beyond the mediocrity of everyday life. It also opens the possibility of life and impels its audience to live their life fully through aesthetic purification.The joy and dream brought by musical films are not to be forgotten by its audience. The freedom and life awareness it shows deserves our attention and reflection. This thesis is to analyze the forms of expression, the narrative strategies, and the temporal and national context of musical film, to study the relationship between economy, politics, secular living and the music and dance under different cultural and technical background, in order to aesthetically analyze the artistic features and value of musical films.
