Objective:The aim of this study is to design and develop a set of web version evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system and intelligent device for acupuncture, and this platform maybe realize the evidence-based diagnosis and treatment pattern and enhance the acupuncture clinic service level.Methods:This study consisted of three sections. The first section was to survey the clinical demands of evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system and intelligent device for acupuncture by questionnaire. The second section was the development and research of evidence-based acupuncture diagnosis and treatment system. The third section was the development and research of acupuncture intelligent diagnosis and treatment device.1. For the questionnaire survey, four parts constituted the demands and views in clinic about our system and device, as reference evidences, clinical decision support system, acupuncture device and integrated product of system and device. Acupuncturists from the top three province hospitals were the main participants. The questionnaires were sent and taken back by mail, and the data was extracted, typed in and analyzed by Excel document.2. Computer network and engineering technology was applied to develop the acupuncture evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system based on browser/server (B/S) mode. The system designed and developed basing on J2EE (Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition) and B/S model, and Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern, with term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) to calculate disease diagnosis and related analysis technology, online analytical processing (OLAP) and online analytical mining (OLAM) to analyze and dig the rules of acupoints selection from different angles and levels to provide decision-making support for clinical acupuncture doctors.3. For acupuncture intelligent diagnosis and treatment device, the device was designed to match and use with evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system, which consisted of low level hardware control system and upper-level application software. To realize the intelligent diagnosis and treatment function, ARM embedded technology was used. The ARM STM32F103 as the CUP control system, Tiny210 as the core motherboard and 9.7 inch touch capacitive screen adopted composed the hardware, which carried the software validly to accurately and rapidly realize collection, control and dispose of electric pulse and signal. Linux Android4.0 real time multitasking operation system and Java development language were used to develop the control software and application software through communication protocol, low level control system and network server.Results:1.202 acupuncture doctors from 44 hospitals of 12 provinces have responded our survey. Diagnosis and treatment system and intelligent device of acupuncture have seldom used in clinic. The feasibility of our research proposal and clinical demands of our production were affirmed. The suggestions of demand of data warehouse, and deficiency of acupuncture device and so on were consulted in detail. There viewpoints were useful to our system and device research.2. According to our questionnaire survey, we have developed the evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system. Acupuncture data warehouse, data mining (DM) and electronic medical record (EMR) composed the core application system. This system achieved the two-way transformation and application of acupuncture evidence between clinic and evidence research center, and may lay the foundation of big data of acupuncture evidence in future.3. Meanwhile, we have developed an acupuncture intelligent diagnosis and therapy device, which the major structures are electro-pulse stimulator and impedance spectroscopy detector. It realizes the intelligence control and operation with more smoothness and more software compatibility. The setting and adjustment of electronic acupuncture parameter such as impulse waveform, frequency, intensity and time are more precision and sensitive. It also has a high speed A/D (Analog/Digital) converter bringing about accurate digit display of the electronic acupuncture parameter and acupoint skin surface impedance spectrum. The device could connect the evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system via WiFi network communication function and acupoint treatment prescription can display on the device and the treatment parameter of electronic acupuncture and impedance spectrum value could be transferred and stored in the system, and initially realize the integration platform among evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system, impedance spectroscopy detection and electro-pulse stimulator.Conclusion:In all, we have designed and developed a set of web version evidence-based diagnosis and treatment system and intelligent device for acupuncture successfully. It provided a platform for acupuncture evidence transformation application from literature research to clinic, and then the EMR evidences also could gather and save in system as the new evidence.In future, with the plenty of evidences accumulated, this system and device should promote the progress of acupuncture evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic mode and advance clinical service level, and those evidences can also support the system future upgrade.
