The Size Selection Of Artificial Valve Ring In Tricuspid Valvuloplasty

ObjectivesTo summarize the classification, anatomy, pathophysiology of tricuspid disease. We discuss the optimal standard of the size selection of artificial valve ring in tricuspid valvuloplasty, with Carpentier’s theory of artificial tricuspid valvuloplasty and experience of the size selection in our center.MethodsA search of the Medline and Pubmed databases for articles in English was conducted, with the following keywords:tricuspid valvuloplasty, artificial valve ring, tricuspid valve regurgitation. We compared the Carpentier’s theory of artificial tricuspid valvuloplasty and experience of the size selection in our center with case reports and photograph during operation.Results&ConclusionsCarpentier’s theory of measuring the septal tricuspid valve is still the common adoption in artificial tricuspid valvuloplasty. However, many scholars suggested that measuring the area of leaflet may be more suitable. Our center selected the ring size with measuring the area of leaflet, coming with an optimal surgical treatment. This surgical technique would fit the enlarged tricuspid valve ring accurately.
