Objective1.To evaluate the biocompatibility of a sample of intrauterine device comprises of polyurethane by animal embedding experiment and cytotoxicity in vitro.2.To evaluate the mechanical properties of a sample of intrauterine devicecomprises of polyurethaneMethodsAccording to GB/T16886and ISO10993,we had the animal embedding experiment and cytotoxicity in vitro on a sample of intrauterine device comprises of polyurethane. The animal embedding experiment:①The medical polyurethane of the new sample of intrauterine device, and the medical polythene of T-Cu IUD.②Divided the SD rats into3groups at random, implanted the PU module and the PC module into different sides of the rat’s hind leg. One of the rat’s hind leg implanted the PU module is the experimental group, the other one is the control group. The bland group is just making a cut on the rat’s left foreleg, but implant nothing in it. On the7th,30th and90th days after the operations, the modules and surrounding tissues were taken out to evaluate the tissue compatibility through observation and paraffin section method. The cytotoxicity in vitro:①The medical polyurethane of the new sample of intrauterine device, and the medical polythene of T-Cu IUD.②CKK-8assay was performed to evaluate the cell proliferation and the cytotoxicity of the PU on the1st,3rd and7th days. Mechanical property test of material:compare the mechanical property of3kinds of different materials by the data from the recognized third-party organization.ResultsThe animal embeding experiment:All of the rats were alive after the operations. On the7th,30th and90th days after the implantation, we evaluated the tissue compatibility through observation and paraffin section method. There was no significant difference between the PU group and the PE group(P>0.05).The cytotoxicity in vitro:we evaluated the cell proliferation and the cytotoxicity of the PU on the1st,3rd,and7th, days by the CKK-8assay. There was no significant difference between the PU group. the PE group and the bland group(P>0.05).Mechanical property test of material: According to the data tested by the recognized third-party organization, the PU material is better than the other two kinds. Conclusion:The sample of the intrauterine device comprises of polyurethane possesses the ideal biocompatibility, and the properties of PU can satisfy the performance requirement.
