Porcine foot-and-mouth disease (P-FMD), classical swine fever (CSF) and highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (HP-PRRS) are classified as animal disease class A in China, which are also current requirements for compulsory immunization of pigs. Vaccination is a critical approach to prevent the above diseases, and development of effective vaccine immunization program is necessary.Yulin City becomes a biggest region of livestock and poultry breeding in Guangxi, and its pig industry is one of the pillar industries in rural economy. However, no effective immune program for P-FMD, CSF, and HP-PRRS vaccines is available. It is urgent to make an effective immune program, which is not only suitable to rural breeding patterns of Yulin, but also willing to be accepted by other village-level animal epidemic prevention staff.1. Questionnaire From September to December in2009, a questionnaire about the useage of the P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS vaccines was carried out in Yulin. The results showed that97.3%of400village-level animal epidemic prevention staff in7counties well know the compulsory immune policy for P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS, but14.5%staff still knew incompletely. During the immunization,91.8%,41.8%and24.5%person sterilized immune site, used the reasonable size syringes and observed the happenings after immunization, respectively. The most staff (88.3%) brought the emergency drugs by immunization. However, only45%staff did immunization after animal restraint.2. Immune program situation Five different immune program for vaccination are as follows:Program A (P-FMD, CSF, and HP-PRRS vaccine alone, and three immunization7days interval), Program B (simultaneous with P-FMD and HP-PRRS vaccine, at7-day interval then CSF vaccine), Program C (simultaneous with CSF and HP-PRRS vaccine, at7-day interval P-FMD vaccine), Program D (simultaneous with P-FMD and CSF vaccine, at7-day interval HP-PRRS vaccine), Program E (P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS vaccine at the same time). Different immune program led to the disproportionate antibody levels against P-FMDV, CSFV and HP-PRRSV.3. Experiment of immune program screening15040-day piglets without inoculating P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS vaccine were randomly divided into5groups. The antibody titers of P-FMD,CSF, and HP-PRRS and immune side effects were analyzed at10~70days after P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS vaccination with5different immune programs. The results showed that the average antibody titers of Program D group (Simultaneous of P-FMD and CSF vaccine, at7-day intervals of HP-PRRS vaccine) and Program A (P-FMD, CSF, and HP-PRRS vaccine alone, and with7days interval) were higher than other3immune programs. One or all of P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS antibody titers of Program B, C and E was affected by each other. Meanwhile, Program D group and Program A group showed minor side effects to the animal compared to other program groups.4. Evaluation of the immune program and development of its practical procedure The immune program of P-FMD,CSF and HP-PRRS vaccines was screened and its practical procedure was applied among the village-level animal epidemic prevention and cure staff in Yulin.Through questionnaires, the application effects of the immune program and its practical procedure was evaluated. The results of350questionnaires showed that the enthusiasm preventing P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS epidemic has been greatly improved in the village-level staff in Yulin. During the vaccination,97.1%,90%and98.6%staff could sterilize immune site, use the reasonable size syringes and observe the happenings after immunization, respectively. By using of promoting immune program, more than80%of the persons were satisfied to the better operability and less immune side-effects to pigs.The results of341samples indicated that the antibody titers of P-FMD and CSF were increased by27.6%and14.9%, respectively. Furthermore, the positive rate of HP-PRRS antibody increased to27.9%. The antibody titers of P-FMD, CSF, and HP-PRRS reached the national standard. The selected immune program for P-FMD, CSF and HP-PRRS vaccine was suitable for the rural backyard pig model in Yulin."Yulin City Pig FMD, CSF, and HP-PRRS disease immunization program and its practical procedure" has been declared local standards...
