With the rise of the scientific paradigm shift and model theory, the use of the complex model of urban spatial form and structure has become one of the important topics of urban design theory research. Under this circumstance, the thesis follows the technical route that started with epistemology, methodology and then arrives at the specific problem-solving method. Its significance lies in providing new perspectives, new ideas and new methods for urban design disciplines. Moreover, it also provides scientific proof for coupling studies and optimization of urban spatial morphology and functional structure.This thesis started from space of the body to explore the social logic and urban social space in the logical form of urban spatial form ideological roots level and then described the philosophical and scientific connotation of science spatial modeling resolving methods through the complex scientific perspective. Meanwhile, from model and methodology, the paper analyzed and summarized the most representative examples of modern western urban space complexity theory and its analytical models of development and evolution trend.Based on the theoretical research, the paper optimized analytical model of existing space on the model concept and methodology through four aspects:the coupling, the coupling optimization, coupled optimization mechanisms, and coupling optimization technology. Research started from grid network model, illustrated the overall characteristics of urban space and the accurate characterization of internal spatial configuration through corresponding method; The research also analyzed parameter space of the morphological characteristics of the different types of samples using quantifying spatial measure and initially established a topological space coupled analytical framework morphology and function of the structure of space.The paper verifies how the model identify different types of spatial location, versatility, effectiveness and operability under a real environment through coupling spatial grid network analytical model when this model was applied to different types of empirical research within various street spaces of Dalian. And on this basis, use Dalian Donggang District as an example, to explore how to apply the results to the empirical research into the actual case studies, namely, how to resolve the spatial grid network coupling method is applied to the integrity of urban spatial scales of larger lots space, and proposed to aid urban design optimization strategies and decision analysis.The research indicates that the space grid network coupling analytical method has great potential in urban studies and planning process. Through this technology platform, researchers and designers can characterize urban context parameter space of cognitive connotation to compare different urban fabric, and the design and evaluation of the results predicted, in order to explore and demonstrate the optimization measures of Urban Planning and Design.
