The slope stability has been a classic topic of soil mechanics. Especially in theprocess of rapid development of the road construction, the stability evaluation methodand reinforcement protection technology of the high filled road embankment slope hasbeen paid much attention. Green Terremesh is a new type of slope reinforcementtechnology which use high filled reinforced soil, and because of its novel structuredesign, good reinforcement effect, convenient construction, low construction costs,environment-friendly, long service life and other characteristics, it has won the favorof the engineering and been applied in practical engineering in which it is effective.But as a new type of slope reinforcement technology, the existing design standard ofthe Green Terremesh is imperfect, especially for the projects under complicatedgeological conditions, where design and constructions are based on experience, whichis difficult to avoid unreasonable. Therefore, to conduct the studies of thereinforcement theory and the key technical problems in the practice of the GreenTerremesh has important theoretical significance and practical value for theembankment slope reinforcement.In this paper, based on the Arusha-Namanga highway projects in Tanzania, thereinforcement theory, design optimization, construction technology and otherproblems in the Green Terremesh used in high filled embankment slope have beensystematically studied. The major study results are as follows:(1) The physical and mechanical properties of site soil materials are analyzedbased on the soil test method, and the mixture ratio of the filling material in the GreenTerremesh is optimized, by comprehensive analyzing the physical and mechanicalproperties of a variety of raw materials.(2) The stability of the Green Terremesh high filled slope is numericalsimulation analyzed through the use of FLAC3Dsoftware, which fully demonstratesthe reinforcement effect and technological advantages of the Green Terremesh in thestrengthening of the high filled embankment slope, and the Green Terremesh has beenoptimized.(3) Through the summary and study of the reinforced soil technology in existedprojects, the composite Green Terremesh is presented, which has good reinforcementeffects in practice.(4) Through the comprehensive analysis of equipment performance,requirements of design criterion and conditions of the construction site, the keytechnical problems in the construction of Green Terremesh are solved.(5) Through the use of site embankment slope monitoring data, based on thehyperbolic model and gray model, the weighting combination prediction model ispresented using MATLAB software, which can improve the prediction accuracy of theslope settlement.
