The circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell proposed in this thesis is a kind of single-layer reticulated shell composed of triangular mesh, having the circumferential folded-plane appearance. This shell is the expansion of the folded-plane space truss in curved surface configuration, combining the advantages of double-layer reticulated shell and the single-layer reticulated spherical shell, which can be applied to dome and cantilever structures. In order to improve the mechanics properties and stride across longer span, the suspended circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell is put forward. This thesis carries out theoretical and experimental researchs on these new structures.Capter1reviews the development history, forms and classification of reticulated shell, and also introducts the development, structure characteristics, engineering applications of folded-plane structures. Furthermore the background and contents of the paper are introduced.Chapter2summarizes the circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell, and gives three ways to classify. In order to improve the structural mechanical behavior, the prestressed shell based on the basic structure is proposed. According to different arrangement of lower cables and bars, this thesis also gives the classification of this kind of prestressed shell.Chapter3carries out kinematical and configuration analysis of the circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell, and demonstrates that basic structure is a kind of geometric invariant space truss. The simplified truss model and structural calculation method are also proposed under two cases:the basic structure and the reinforced structure with inner lower circumferential bars.Chapter4conducts the static properties of the basic structure and the reinforced structure with lower inner circumferential bars under different joint connection scheme. The effects of the rise-to-span ratio, thickness-to-span ratio and hole-to-span ratio on static behaviours of the reinforced structure with inner lower circumferential bars using hinged joint are studied also.Chapter5researches the dynamic performance of the basic structure and the reinforced structure with lower inner circumferential bars under different joint connection scheme. The effects of the rise-to-span ratio, thickness-to-span ratio and hole-to-span ratio on the dynamic performance of the reinforced structure using hinged joint are researched also. In order to know the seimisc performance, the reinforced structures with all hinged joint and all rigid joint under seismic loading are analyzed by the response spectrum method and the step-by-step integration procedure respectively.Chapter6studies the stabilities of the basic structure and the reinforced structure with lower inner circumferential bars under different joint connection scheme. The effects of the rise-to-span ratio, thickness-to-span ratio and hole-to-span ratio on the stability of the reinforced structure using hinged joint are researched.Chapter7analysis the static properties, dynamic charicteritics and stabilities of the five kinds of the suspended circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell, and compared these with the circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell. By the way of steel consumption quotas of different shells are analized.Chapter8designs an experimental model of the circumferential folded single-layer reticulated spherical shell. Static loading tests are carried out on the reinforced structure with lower inner circumferential bars and that suspended structure. The results of theoretical and experimental research are also compared.Chapter9gives the summary and some future research suggestions.
