In this paper, the staggered-grid finite difference algorithm was used in computer numericalsimulation of seismic wave propagation and attenuation in coal seam and its surrounding rock.Through the analysis of the numerical simulation results, the various representative characteristicsof typical coal seam and rock medium model were extracted, and then the influence of the coalseam and sroundding rock in real media to the seismic propagation and attenuation were discussed.Firstly, the object of the computer numerical simulation were analyzed, whick werecoal orsurrounding rock under different conditions and the elastic modle of the media in differentconditions were obtained, which reflect different characteristics of coal seam.they were theanisotropic model, two-phase model and stochastic model. Secondly, the basic principle of finitedifference scheme, including the basic process and realization method of boundary condition, thediscontinuity surface treatment and other issues were discussed. And then, computer simulationaccording to different characteristic of the objects, different finite difference algorithm is deducedto simulate the different different information in the models. Finally,the information that containedmedium characteristics was extracted from the results and analyzed.In this process, thegeneralized Darcy’s theorem, stochastic modeling and different levels of anisotropic model wereused to analyze the elastic characteristics of thecoal seam and its surrounding rock. In the last partof the thesis a industrial example were given to show the effects of numerical simulation.
