Solar observation has achieved unprecedented high spatial and temporal, high spatialresolution, multi-angle and multi-band data by the development and application of newtechnologies. Researchers analyze these high-quality data to obtain in-depth knowledge of thesun. The images of the sun are the most important observational data because it is the easiestway to get for human visual system. Image quality will be affected by telescope, atmosphericturbulence, optical systems and other factors during the observational process of solar telescopes.Therefore, the solar image assessment is one of the important works of the solar observations.Image assessment includes subjective assessment and objective assessment. Subjectiveassessment has been developed in the infancy of image. The results of subjective assessment canbe used as one of the criteria for objective assessment. The development and application ofobjective assessment is benefited from the development of computer technology.Image assessment work is not only related to the human visual system, but also coversalmost the field of digital image processing, such as image acquisition, image computing, imagetransformation and filtering, image enhancement, image restoration and reconstruction, imagesegmentation, morphological image processing, wavelet transform and image multi-resolutionprocessing. Currently, the method of objective assessment has been widely used for solar imagepreprocessing, solar image spatial automatic detection, the dynamic evolution of the solareruptions, and the research of statistics, classification and analysis process. The study on solarhigh resolution data assessment and application mainly includes exploring suitable methods andtechniques based on the application of digital image processing for solar observational images.The New Vacuum Solar Telescope in Yunnan observatories is one of the biggest solartelescopes in the world. The telescope focuses on the high resolution observations of the solarphotosphere and chromosphere. The image assessment applied for high-resolution observationshas four potential values.(1) Subjective assessment is applied for the analysis and study of solarobservations of events based on scientists’ knowledge and experience.(2) Image assessmentmethod is used to monitor the quality of the image for telescope control system.(3) Imageassessment method can be used to locate for image processing systems and algorithms.(4) Image assessment method can be embedded into an image processing system to optimize the algorithmand parameter settings.This thesis studies the demand for the applications mentioned above, and the specific tasksinclude the following aspects.First, research on image assessment methods and algorithms in the field of digital imageprocessing, and make a systematic analysis of its application for the solar high-resolution data.Second, research on an image assessment method, which is based on human visual systemand image ambiguity, and used for solar high resolution data processing of NVST.Third, research on the current image processing methods and its application for solarobservation, and make a systematic summary and conclusion for the basic idea of imageassessment during the solar image processing.Last, research on a specific widespread event of the sun by image assessment methodcombining with solar high-resolution data processing method, and on this basis, an automaticidentification method for solar high-resolution jets/surges is given.
