Simao basin is one of important salt-forming basins in China, where there are rich potassium-androck salt-resources. Based on previous research,through the technical means of surface geologicalsurveys, potassium drilling implement and hydrochemical investigation, The Jurassic stratigraphicframework of the study area is established and the history of sedimentary and tectonic evolution of theSimao basin is summarized.Meanwhile, the characteristics of salt bearing strata, the main saltconstruction are ascertained, the maps of lithofacies paleogeographic in Jurassic are drawing and theconditions of salt-and potassium-forming are emphatically discussed. On this basis, Combined withsalt tectonic deformation., salt mineral assemblage, the characteristics of geochemistry and saltinclusions, geophysical interpretation data and the latest results of drilling in Mengyeing area,metallogenic model, salt material sources and salt-forming era of Mengyejing potash mine are furtherdiscussed, and it has been proved that there is existence of rock salt in Jurassic, Simao basin. Finally,the possibility of potassium forming in study area and the potassium prospecting direction is pointedout, which contributes to providing a scientific basis fo potash exploration of marine stratum.
