The Central Reserve Bank of China organized by the Wang Ching-wei puppetregime in line with the Central Reserve Bank Act enacted by the NationalGovernment in Nanking in 1937,known as the Central Reserve Bank (referred to inCRB,hereinafter referred to in CRB notes as the issuance of currency).The thesis discusses,from the political-monetary history perspective,focuseson the the process of operation of the Central Reserve Bank,over the past five years,from1941 to 1945 within the Japanese-occupied areas in Central China (besides,inthis case Central China refers specifically to the regions of Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Anhuiprovinces and Nanjing,Shanghai,Wuhan).The Central Reserve Bank was established in the reign of Wang Ching-weipuppet regime.Its rough formation was a reflection of complicated relationshipamong Wang Ching-wei puppet regime and Japanese Government and ChungkingNational Government.One side,Japanese Government paid lip service to support theestablishment of the Central Reserve Bank after Japanese Government and WangChing-wei puppet regime signed the peace agreement.The other side,ChungkingNational Government did its best to hold back the formation of the Central ReserveBank.Under Wang Ching-wei puppet regime's utmost appeal to JapaneseGovernment,the Central Reserve Bank came into existence.This thesis discussessuch complicated relationship among the three governments and their dynamic effectsduring the formation of this bank,focusing on the three governments' mutualwrestling.The CRB served as a critical financial support to the Wang Government.However,so far there has been less than sufficient studies on it.In this regard,thisthesis aim first to trenchant the history of the CRB from the very beginning of itspreparation,establishment through to its daily operations.The Sino-Japaneserelationship will also be examined.In conclusion,it is believed to cast a new light onthe entangled relationships among Jiang,Wang and the Japanese regimes,which willcertainly deepen our understanding of the Sino-Japanese War.
