The Role Of Science And Technology In Building A Harmonious Society

It is a great systematic project to establish a socialist harmonious society, which requires us achieving harmoniously advancement in many sections and fields in the society. Now, science & technology is increasingly penetrating into every field of society, and therefore, it has become a powerful impetus in the advancement of human society and civilization. Establishing a socialist harmonious society is largely dependent on supporting and promoting of science and technology. It is very important for China to construct a harmonious society that how to make full use of modern science & technology for raising social productivity, advancing fully development of mankind, and driving economy, politics, culture and the nature harmoniously. Based on this background, the dissertation, from the view of systemic theory, clarifies the dialectic relationship between harmonious society and each social embranchment, analyzes effect and function of science & technology in the development of each social embranchment, and searches the road to achieve harmonious society relying on scientific & technological progress.The dissertation consists of three parts: introduction, five chapters and conclusion.The introduction expresses the harmonious society and science & technology on the basis of system science respectively. Some current research situations are discussed, upon which lays the significance of the thesis topics, the logic structure and the study methods of the paper. The author treats Chinese society being an open complex giant system as the beginning point, then sets forth the harmonious society building as the embodiment of achieving man's all-round development, material civilization construction, political civilization construction, spiritual civilization construction, and man-nature coordinating development, gives a brief account of the function of science & technology in five aspects.In chapter one, the advancing function of science & technology in the man`s all-round development is discussed. Human being is the primarily essential element. Person`s all-round development is not only the basic precondition of harmonious society construction, but also the ultimate objective. Science & technology is the result of man`s practice, and is also the condition of man`s survival and development. It plays an important role in satisfying man`s needs, improving man`s capability, extending man`s social intercourse, promoting man`s individuality progress. But with the development of science & technology, the questions of its alienation to man are increasingly puzzling mankind. It is the key to promote the good inter-influence between the scientific & technological progress and man`s development in order to weaken or eliminate these questions.In chapter two, the function of science & technology in driving the economic harmonious development is researched. Economy is an important component of the whole social system and economic development is the precondition of a harmonious society construction. Only economy having gained full development can provide stable material condition for a harmonious society. Only holding economic harmonious progress can advance a harmonious society construction better. Science & technology is the first productive force, and also is the powerful impetus of promoting economy and society harmonious development. Scientific and technological innovation plays a leading role in transforming the mode of economic growth, promoting the industrial structure, optimizing the resources of the whole world, ensuring economic safety, and so forth. In order to build a harmonious society, we must accelerate scientific and technological innovation and relying on it, make economy under the direction of sustainable healthy harmonious development.In chapter three, the function of scientific and technological progress in accelerating political civilization construction is studied. Politics is the superstructure of the whole social system and the mainly mechanism of regulating the relationship among the society`s offset systems. To develop socialist democracy and construct socialist political civilization is an important mission, and also is the political pledge of realizing social harmoniousness. It is a common phenomenon that the relationship between Science & technology and society becomes increasingly compact. With the coming of"big science and high technology"era, sci-technological progress is more and more dependent on political support, and sci-technological rapid progress gets its political value increasingly marked. Science & technology not only transforms the social relationship by affecting the social productivity, but also changes the political structure and function by penetrating into and acting on political system, social consciousness, etc. To construct political civilization, it is necessary to make full use of science & technology which promotes the development of national and international politics, and to provide the harmonious society construction with a good political environment.Chapter four mainly discusses the promoting function on the socialist harmonious culture construction. Compared to economy and politics, culture is another offset of the whole social system. That a society is harmonious or not and a country can realize long period of order and stability or not, is largely dependent on its people`s quality of mentality and morality and the harmoniousness of social cultures. The harmonious culture is the spiritual support of the whole people progressing together and the spirit guarantee of establishing a harmonious society. Science & technology as a culture, is an important component in the cultural system, containing scientific knowledge, thought, spirit, method, etc. It plays a significant part in the development of the human culture and spiritual civilization, and the other cultures can not substitute it. Science & technology is not only a culture, but also a means to construct culture. It affects and promotes the development of the other cultures by means of penetrating economy, politics, living and so on. To construct harmonious culture and advance spiritual civilization, it is necessary to develop science & technology and its culture vigorously.Chapter five studies the ecological value of science & technology, discusses the function of modern science & technology in promoting ecological civilization construction and man-nature harmonious development. Compared to the whole society, nature is the environment of mankind`s existence and development. To advance the harmoniousness between human and nature is an important constituent of the harmonious society construction, and also is the precondition of the harmonious society construction. Science & technology is a two-edged sword. It has promoted economy and society. Meanwhile, it has brought about many questions of ecology and surroundings, leaded to unbalance between human and nature, and resulted in the social sustainable development being faced with serious threat. We must realize that the root of leading to man-nature unbalanced is the improper application of science & technology. Science & technology is a powerful means of mankind`s understanding and reconstructing nature. It leans upon science & technology ultimately to slow and solve the questions of ecology and surroundings and to realize the goal of harmonious development between human and nature.In conclusive part, a summary of the dissertation is given and explained, the author sees her future efforts in advance.
