This paper is guided by the new economic growth theory, applies theoretical knowledge in political economy, regional economy, industrial economy, econometrics and international trade and investment economy, and adopts a combination of theoretical and empirical methods and qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the post-war economic growth in Taiwan from several endogenous factors, such as human capital, knowledge economy, R&D activities, technical innovation, industrial policies, foreign trade (economic openness), technical transfer and capital transfer.The framework of this paper is from theory to practice and from abstraction to specification, the detailed framework is as follows:Chapter 1 is introduction, which mainly explains the purpose, significance, research methods, analytical framework, research innovation and existing problems of this paper, and makes a brief review of theoretical documents and academic research.Chapter 2 is about the contents of the new economic growth theory, which firstly defines and compares relevant concepts, then comments on the basic modes of the new economic growth theory on the basis of theoretical origin and actual background of the theory, from the angle of completely competitive condition, monopolisticly competitive condition and openly competitive condition. This chapter is the theoretical foundation of the paper.Chapter 3, chapter 4 and chapter 5 are the central parts of the paper, which apply the general theory to analyze the economic growth in Taiwan according to different modes. Chapter 3 discusses the relationship between human capital, knowledge economy and Taiwan's economic growth, and the relationship between knowledge economy and the adjustment of industrial structure in Taiwan, from the angle of completely competitive condition. Chapter 4 firstly elaborates the input and output of R&D activities in Taiwan, then respectively discusses the relationship between R&D activities, technical innovation and industrial policies and Taiwan's economic growth, from the angle of monopolisticly competitive condition. Chapter 5 respectivelydiscusses the relationship between foreign trade, technical transfer and capital transfer and Taiwan's economic growth from the angle of openly competitive condition, and makes an empirical research on the causal relationship between economic openness and Taiwan's economic growth.Chapter 6 analyzes the main problems during the Taiwan's economic growth, such as the problems in the development of High-tech industry, the problems in the promotion of human capital, the problems in the adjustment and upgrade of industrial structure and the problems in the economic policies of Taiwan government.Chapter 7 elaborates the developing strategies and assisting measures adopted by Taiwan government in order to promote the whole level of science and technology, intensify industrial competitiveness and promote the economic growth. Simultaneously, the paper presents the developing tendencies of Taiwan's economic growth and the effects of attitudes and role of Taiwan government at the background of economic globalization and knowledge economy.The last chapter is the main conclusions and relevant enlightenment of the paper.
