Study On The Mechanism Of Cooperative Motivation Of City Association

The city, products of highly developed social productivity, is the densest area of the element of productivity and modernization. It is the congregation zone of the developed regional economy. Along with the rapid development of economy and the process of urbanization, more and more new cities have been emerged and developed from isolation to congregation. The progress of urbanization is driving the development of society and economy and they can promote each other. In the past, the function of cities was comprehensive and huge. The industrial structure was simple. The competition between different cities was tense and hard. Nowadays, many city groups have been emerged because of the development of Chinese economy, especially the congregation and expansion of cities. Consequently, the former situation is changing and developing that is leading to the new era of cooperation and competition of cities that will produce the city association. Correspondingly, City association should be the effective way to develop the competitive advantages and the economy of cities. Based on the research of the emergence and development of city association as well as its motivations, characters, forms, classification and operational mechanism, the researcher investigated the essence of city association in order to contribute the theory of city association and provide the direction of the practices by using the theories of dynamics, synergies, and gaming theory and so on. The main contents and conclusions are listed as following:1. The researcher produced the research questions and research purposes through the analysis of the development of city association and the literature reviews.2. The researcher identified and developed some basic definitions of city association and produced the classification based on the willingness. Furthermore, the researcher analyzed the internal and external reasons and main characters and forms of city association.3. The researcher analyzed the theoretical mechanism of the conversion of cities from competition to cooperation by using the theory of exchanging cost, value chain, network, strategic management, organizational learning, and resources.4. The researcher produced the general principles of choosing partners and the way of assessment. Furthermore, the researcher holds a view that the main elements of maintaining the city association include the mechanisms of trust, coordination, and reward system.5. The researcher produced the bow-arrow-string model of city association based on the analysis of motivations of city association and the following conclusions have been arrived at: The fundamental motivation of city association is benefit convergence. The motivation system consists of motivation of industry, market, technology, learning, institution, capital, resources and structure.
