The traffic flow system is a complex large system. The complex non-linear relations exist in various factors of the system, which leads to the generation of chaos phenomenon such as discontinuous traffic flow on road and traffic jam induced by traffic accidents, etc. in traffic flow. It is impossible to explain so many problems only by tradition theories and methods. However, chaotic theory has been proved to be an important and useful tool, it can provide new methods to grasp the essences and rules of the complex phenomena in traffic flow.Some scholars proved that chaos exist in the traffic flows from multi-perspective. The chaos in traffic flow is not clearly separated with order motion. The transitional processes of traffic flow exist from chaos to order motion and order motion to chaos. On the base of summarizing recent work in a the studies of traffic flow chaos at home and abroad, this dissertation analyses the transition of chaos in traffic flow. Study on formation mechanism of chaos in traffic flow and influence of transition of chaos in traffic flow. The main contents and results in this dissertation are as follows:An improved largest Lyapunov exponents'algorithm is put forward for rapid identification of chaos in traffic flow. The problem of the chaos in the traffic flow, that is produced by the car-following model, produced by a microscopic traffic flow simulation software and real traffic flows sampled, is studied with the improved largest Lyapunov exponents'algorithm. The study shows, the calculating veracity of the Lyapunov exponents is increased the accuracy of calculating, because the improved algorithm greatly reduces the influence of the calculating quantity and the human factor. The conclusion that chaos is exists in the traffic flows.With the car-following model to generate a simulation traffic flow, we conduct a study on the transitional process of traffic flow from chaos to order motion and order motion to chaos. The experiment shows, the process of the chaos in traffic flow is convergence to divergence of traffic flow; the chaos motion and the order motion can be inter-changeable; the butterfly chaos strange attractors are observed.
