Empirical Research On Regional Economic Development And Differences In China

The regional economic development level and differences are significant problems that relate to the economic development of a big country, especially in China where has large population and imbalance development. Since the birthday of New China, especially after reforming and opening-up policy, our nation's economy has grown rapidly, which gets great achievement that is acknowledged by the whole world. At the same time, regional economy has stepped to a new period of overall fast development, a new pattern of regional economy emerged, which plays an important role for the sustainable, fast and healthy economic development in our nation. But in this situation, some conflicts and problems such as the imbalance of economic development emerged and wait to be solved.During the process of the fast economic development, different regions took on marked difference owing to the differences of resources, physical geography and policies. How to achieve the united and harmonious development of regional economy is not only related to the sustainable and stable economy in China, but also associated with the construction of the harmonious society.Following the understanding above, this paper systematically analyzes the regional economic development level and differences in China from three aspects of history, the present state and problems arising from practice. Focusing on the regional economic development level and differences which is the nucleus of the regional economy, this paper, after investigating the alternation of the regional economic development level and differences, discusses the effective measures for coordinating the regional economic development under the present economic situation.This paper makes a simple survey of current situation of the study of regional economic development level and differences, put emphases on the analysis of the reason of various opinions in current academe about it, and brings my opinion about what method is simple and effective to value the economic development level in different regions and what kind of index is better to measure the differences of the economic development level among various regions forward.
