Kim Sun-Po is a representative of agricultural scientists of his generation. Kim Sun-Po devotes himself in education and scientific research for decades, and he has trained many well-known scholars and excellent agricultural research staff. He plays particularly important role in the development of Nanjing Agricultural University. Kim Sun-Po has devoted himself to wheat science in China; he has made great contribution to China's wheat breeding research, development of agricultural production and the cultivation of agricultural science and technology personnel. Kim Sun-Po set a milestone in Chinese wheat research every step he moves forward. These include the discovery and study of Yunnan wheat, the research of classification and distribution of wheat area in China, the breeding and popularization of new kinds of wheat and the summary and innovation of scientific theory. More than 100 papers on wheat and others written by him and his colleagues have been published. In reality, wheat variety "CU 2419",which was bred by him in person is popularized in more than 20 provinces (cities, districts) in China, has been planted up to 40 years, with an area of 7,000 mu in the largest years. Spring wheat varieties "Jing Hong Hao", "Zhong Zi Hao", which were studied and bred by him as the leader, were massively planted in spring wheat region and Huang-Huai winter wheat region.
