Chemical industry provides rich and colorful products, and has broad development prospects. But the double pressure for the protection of the ecological environment and the new adjustment of industrial structure makes china chemical industry facing the more serious challenge than other industry. To build a conservation-oriented enterprise, it is necessary to promote clean production vigorously and walk the road of circular economy. By developing the technology of more energy saving and extending and optimizing the chemical product chain reasonably, this is the inevitable choice for China Chemical Industry to serch new development space in the current situation.With the continuous technical progress and changes of the market demands, chemical industry is changed into process-directed and product-directed industry from process-directed industry. There is chemical product engineering to solve the problem of which ones to be chosen and how to produce them to satisfy the needs of their performance, economy, environment and market etal. Scientific extension and optimization of the chemical product chain has become a crossed-field of chemical product engineering and technology economy and management. Based on the above considerations, this paper will take chemical product chain as research object, mainly carried out research in the following areas:First, by interpretation of the "platform chemicals" concept furthermore, the paper constructed a comprehensive evaluation model of the choice of platform chemicals, studied the path choice method of chemical product chain extension based platform chemicals. Through the definition of chemical product chain extension, the paper studied the extension mechanism of chemical product chain. Accoding to the meaning of "platform strategy", combined the characteristics of chemical industry, more interpretation of the"platform chemicals"concept enriched the connotation of product platform strategy. Aiming at the characteristics of platform chemicals, the paper proposed the train of thought and the methods for the platform chemicals selection, and constructed a comprehensive evaluation model of the choice of platform chemicals. The effectiveness of the extension of chemical product chain based platform chemicals was proved by the case in XX Company.Secondly, the paper studied the extension of chemical product chain based on vertical integration, constructed the model on vertical integration based on surplus production capacity under uncertainty. Through the expansion of the Hart-Tirole model, this paper analyses the motivation, the condition and the influence of vertical integration in such industries of surplus production capacity under uncertainty, and get some new conclusions. When the differences of the scale and cost of a downstream firm are little, eager bandwagon never appears. Under uncertainty, the upstream surplus production capacity creates motivation for vertical integration of an upstream and a downstream firm, and motivation becomes stronger with the decline of the M&A cost. The exclusion effect of vertical integration possibly makes upstream surplus production capacity exit from market, and the likelihood of exit becomes more with the increase of upstream-firm investment cost of unit product.Thirdly, on the basis of the comprehensive evaluation of chemical project, the paper studied chemical product chain multi-objective optimization. Through the analysis of basic structure of the balanced scorecard and system dynamics of comprehensive evaluation on chemical projects, the paper builded the model of comprehensive evaluation on chemical projects. Based on the concept of circular economy, by introducing the logical expression, the paper constructed the model of a mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) of multi-objective optimizati of chemical product chain . A case study of the product chain optimization of XX enterprise is illustrated and the effectiveness was proved.Finally, the paper studied spatial distribution optimizing strategy of chemical product chain based on matrix related material (MRM). Based close material linkages existed between the product items of chemical product chain, the paper constructed the matrix related material (MRM) on the basis of the material linkages between the product items By clustering and remodeling of MRM, the paper puts forward the optimal strategy for space distribution of chemical product chain. The effectiveness of optimization strategy was proved by a case.
