The Hong Kong's immigrants in modern times constituent the main part of the Hong Kong city's population. And the development of the Hong Kong City is closely related with these immigrants. This thesis attempts to study the Hong Kong's immigrants in modern times from diachronic perspective and synchronic perspective as well. The diachronic study covers the migratory movements between the year 1841 and 1941, recovering their migration routes, analyzing the types and the motivation of the immigrants. The synchronic study includes the demography and the population distribution. This thesis also focuses on the relationship between the Hong Kong City's development and its immigrants.
