JiangGuangyu(1825-1892), whose another name is Shengwu, also called Yinfang(寅昉),Yinfang(吟舫),Jingzhai, is originally from Xiashi in Haining. His forefathers began to collected books, and with his more hard-working, after three generations, he had received a total of hundreds of rolls of various books. He put them in his Iibliotheca YanFen Cottage. Xianfeng Seven years (1857), the war between Qing Dynasty and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom overspread to south of Yangtze River, and Jiang Guangyu transferred all his books to his ancestral graves. Soon, he brought his books, along the Yangtze River up until the Wuchang, thousands of miles away, to escape the fighting. Tongzhi three years (1864), Zhejiang is stable before he returned his books to his hometown. At that time, the collections of most of the bibliophiles over south of Yangtze Rive were destroyed, but books in YanFen Cottage were preserved only. Guangyu has contributed to save the cultural heritage of our motherland.However, due to the difficulties to explore new materials, scholars have just recorded so, without further study. This paper roots in "Extracts from Old friends letters", "Extracts from famous people's letters", "Letters from Shao Weixi to Yinfang", "Adding to Extracts from Old friends letters "and the "WestStream Cottage Bibliography", and all of them have not been published. Carefully reorganizing and analysing materials based on the historical background and senior researchers combined the results of the late Qing Dynasty, this paper will return to the original condition of this famous bibliophile having distinct characteristics, research his books examine deeds, and promote his moral.In addition to the foreword and conclusion other than this paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is referred the owners of YanFen Cottage and " Extracts from Old friends letters", the main research connecpts Jiang's family, life and the situation of "Extracts from Old friends letters". The second chapter is about the collections of YanFen Cottage owners, summarizing the characteristics of collecting books based on investigation of the size of Jiang's collections, his library fine and the library catalog. The third chapter is research about publishing books by the owner of YanFen Cottage. These books will be divided into two periods of Xianfeng and Tongzhi. Chapter four is research for Jiang and his friends, revolving round the 84 core friends existing in the material, from its status, ages, places of origin, imperial examination, background and so on several aspects of communication, analysing data of his friends of region, groups, orientation and the role of various friendship, and then to sketch the characteristics of his Friendship. Chapter five is research for the protection to the books of JiangGuangyu i n per i od of war. Xianfeng 10 years (1860), Taiping troops went to Zhej i ang, WenLan House, Tianyi Pavilion, Biexia Room, FengZi Rooms, and many other famous Iibliotheca were badly damaged, only the collections of YanFen Cottage were not destroyed. With the help of people in different stratum such as ShaoYichen, QianTaiji, GaoJunru, ZhuJiayu, ZhangDing, ZhouTenghu, ZhangYaosun, YanShusen, ZengGuofan, Jiang Jiang Guangyu paid much hardships, and saved lots of rare books. This chapter will study the the attitude of different communities to protecting books in the course of action to restore transfer.The first chapter is the detailed description of background and the materials collecting and collation. On this basis, the second, third, fourth and fifth chapter sub-collection, engraved books, friends, nursing book describes the four directions separately. Since most of the material referenced paper is not published, this paper will try to disclose as much as possible of them in the quote process. To make a more detailed and vivid paper, some historical events of individual oral by Jiang descendants is appropriated reference to this articl. In part of Iibrary research, this thesis have collected and treasured this Song transcript, approved the data, and illustrated as far as possible. In part of publishing books, this thesis have examined correspondence among said details of the main published books. In the part of friendship, "Extracts from Old friends letters" is main, also including copies of other letters, all kinds of genealogy, chronology, prose and poetry. The part of protecting books is mainly about letters from ShaoYichen in Xianfeng 10 years(1860) and Xianfeng 11 years(1861), and mainly about poems, letters and narrate by Jiang himself in "Essays In Jing Room" and "Chronicles of Reading books In GengShi Room" after Xianfeng 11 years(1861) when ShaoYichen has died.
