The high current density cathode plays a key role in the high power microwave tube. With the development of high power microwave tube, the theoretical and experimental investigation of the high performance cathode has been conducted. The research work includes how to prepare the high performance welding and pressing cathode and the effect of the based metal on the cathode emission, the preparations of the mentioned cathode dies, the discussion of emission mechanism of thermionic cathode.The innovations of the postdoctoral research presented in this thesis can be summarized as follows:Preparations of the high performance welding and pressing cathode.Achievement of the design on the test system for the cathode performance.Achievement of identifying of the effect of the based metal on the cathode emission.Preparations of the high precision dies of the mentioned cathode.Discussion the emission mechanism of thermionic cathode and effort to explain the excellent performance of mixed metal cathode by Richardson formula and Muller's computational model.
