Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) can amplify light signals directly, which avoids"light-electric-light"amplified mode in traditional light communication, and simplifies communication systems, and decreases the cost, so it will archive wide applications in fiber communication systems.Fund-supported by Tianjin Science Technology development plan project (033800211): Study of intelligent fiber amplifiers and light sources, combining the research evolve of EDFA in China and aboard, this dissertation mainly researched experimentally gain-clamped EDFA, and optimized the performance of EDFA, mainly aimed at wideband EDFA with high and flat gain, research contents and research results are listed as follows:1. A dual stage gain-clamped L-band EDFA based on reflecting backward C-band ASE using a fiber loop mirror as reflector to clamp the gain is proposed, which archives high and flat gain in L-band. The gain is higher than 21dB,in the range of 1570nm~1600nm, the flatness of gain can arrive 0.77dB, 3dB bandwidth is more than 35nm, and dynamic range is -45dBm~ -15dBm. Combining with the prescript of the item, a sample-machine is established. Tested by experts, its gain is 23.68dB, noise figure is 7.47dB, the flatness of gain is±0.8dB, and the input signal power range is more than 27dB.2. A dual stage gain-clamped L-band EDFA based on reflecting backward C-band ASE using a chirped fiber grating as reflector to clamp the gain is proposed. Its gain is more than 23dB,in the range of 1572nm~1604nm, the gain flatness is±0.92dB, 3dB bandwidth is more than 36nm (1570nm~1606nm), signal saturation input power arrives -15dBm.3. A dual pumped single stage gain-clamped L-band EDFA based on reflecting backward C-band ASE using a fiber loop mirror or a circular as reflector to clamp the gain is proposed. When a fiber loop mirror is used, at wavelength 1585nm, the gain arrives 20.28dB, signal saturation input power arrives -6.94dBm. When a circular is used, at wavelength 1585nm, the gain arrives 17.68dB, signal saturation input power arrives -5.51dBm.4. A multi-wavelength fiber laser based on a broadband chirped fiber grating and highly bi-refraction fiber loop mirror as cavity mirrors is proposed. The cavity loss theory is used,the output laser is change by changing the states of the polarizer controller in the cavity to change different wavelength loss, steady single and dual wavelength output is arrived, and multi wavelength laser output is also achieved.5. An L-band fiber laser based on C-band broadband chirped fiber grating as cavity mirror is presented. In the structure, the C-band ASE can bu used repeatly, which can improve the pump efficiency.
