With the development of radar technology and the complication of targetbackground, more and more information which is not only angle but also range need beknown to target in order to track and orientate accurately. Development of millimeterwave high resolution technique provides more target information for precision guidance, while monopulse technique itself has high precision angle measurement performancewhich increases orientation function to target. Tendency of country and foreign isanalyzed, which method of monopulse angle measurement and characteristic of highresolution signal are discussed from the goal and significance of study at first in thispaper. Inconsistency of channel effects on performance of tracking and monopulse radarsystem of dual-plane sum and difference patterns of amplitude which are studied fromposition coordinate of antenna feed, method of extracting angle error is introduced, andprecision of angle measurement is analyzed. In analysis of high resolution signal, extended Prony algorithm is applied to frequency-stepped radar, which obtains moreexact target information and overcomes the shortcomings of using IDFT to synthesizehigh resolution range profiles. Corresponding modeling analysis and experimentsimulation explain the advantages of Prony's method.Following above, the frequency-stepped high resolution radar is studied bycombining with research project. The waveform of frequency-stepped radar andfrequency modulated-stepped radar are designed on basing the analysis of performanceparameter of frequency-stepped high resolution radar. Three millimeter wave frequencymodulated-stepped monopulse radar is analyzed by using the angle measurementprinciple of monopulse amplitude-comparison, which synthesizes three dimension profileof high resolution range-azimuth-elevation. The correct method based on statisticalaverage is introduced when channel inconsistency affected on angle measurement inthree millimeter wave band high resolution monopulse radar is researched, which themirror signal is restrained very well and the quality of imaging is improved. The authorparticipates in designing microstrip antenna of three millimeter wave monopulse radarand device of sum and difference, direct sampling of digital down-converter inintermediate frequency, and multi-function frequency synthesizer. Finally, the application of millimeter wave high resolution radar to combination guidance is studied, and corresponding experimentation is done, for example, rangeresolution and detection range. The angle measurement performance of monopulse radarin remote guidance is studied at length in this paper, and its guidance precision isanalyzed and computed in detail, too.
