The recognition and synthesis of the texture image, which promises a significant application prospect, is an important reseach subject in image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision. This paper has made a deep study on the basis of summarising the existing excogitated methods. It focuses on the stages of natural texture image recognition and synthesis, including image filter processing and feature function extraction. By using the advanced intelligent algorithms in area of intelligent control technique, the prospective effect is achieved.A new method based on advanced morphological filtering is proposed in this paper, which is a non-linear filter algorithm grounded on mathematical morphology. The method can remain image geometric features and filter image much better. Besides, it is characterized by parallelism and high speed.To deal with recognition of natural texture image, an effective and applicable ant colony algorithm based on its discrete and clustering features that aims at image recognition and clustering is proposed. Through further research and experiment analysis of texture image feature function, and considering the requirement of recognition and clustering in ant colony algorithm, nine statistical functions that can describe the image features exactly is established on which the image recognition is based. Thereupon, the feature functions of natural texture image can realize matching by using clustering of ant colony algorithm. And then natural texture image recognition is achieved. Experiment results prove high recognition ability and demonstrate that the new algorithm is convenient for procedure and application.Natural texture image is partly non-linear, which makes its synthesis very complex.
