With the rapid growth of network economy, many changes have occurred in the Internet, which includes user numbers, service types and service ranges. Besides traditional host connection and Best-Effort data transmission, today's Internet has evolved to be an infrastructure for multi-types of applications. It is the consensus of research organizations that NGN's backbone will be based on the Internet as well. On the other hand, more and more distributed Large-Scale multimedia applications are emerging in the current Internet, such as P2P, Service Grid, Tele-Remedy, Interactive Net-Simulation, Virtual Reality, VoD, and CSCW, etc., which will be gradually substituted for traditional applications of the Internet. These rising applications are demonstrating new trends of the future applications in NGN. They always character large scale, multi-types of traffics, interactivity, real-time, and multicasting.
