The rapid developments of Internet technology and computer science bring great challenges to distributed storage technology. The distributed storage system in the future must have the ability to accommodate great number of users, deal with massive data distributed in Internet environment, and provide high data availability and high performance of storage service. Hov/ to build such distributed storage system with good scalability, efficiency, and reliability is a valuable work for us to do.This dissertation primarily focuses on the technology of distributed data storage of providing large-scale, high-availability and high-performance distributed massive storage service. Based on systematically summarizing the relevant works on distributed data storage technology, this dissertation gains several achievements on technology of Internet oriented large-scale distributed storage system. The innovations of this dissertation are as below:1. This dissertation designs a P2P based Internet orinted distributed storage system: π-Store. Based on a highly scalable P2P architecture, π-Store organizes large numbers of nodes distributed in Internet into a united overlay network and constructs an Internet oriented distributed massive storage system. Featuring with effective routing mechanism, high-avilaility data redundancy, adaptive replication management, and parallel file transfering mechanism, π-Store provides users with efficient, reliable, massive storage service.2. This dissertation presents a novel effective P2P route algorithm: π-Route. π-Route modifies Pastry's routing algorithm, and presents a new algorithm called "LD-PNS" as well as a new mechanism called "replica surrogate". By using LD-PNS, entries of a node's routing table can be adjusted dynamically to reduce routing delay and improve performance of files access. By using of replica surrogate, π-Route enables replicas to migrate freely in system to anywhere that needs them, which improves the performance of file accessing.
