As we know, the amount of remote sensing information stored, transmitted and handled by computer has been growing exponentially with the fast development of the technology of remote sensing over thelast decades. So the demand of image acquisition and storage in high resolution and great capacity is a problem that has to be resolved. The acquisition and storage of sensing image are the base of getting image information and are absolutely necessary for each system of sensing image processing systems. Real time display is either the important means to observe the information of acquisition image or the discriminative rule to process image.The problem that how to get and process the large image data is very important to the technology of remote sensing. It is associated with BUS technology, direct access to storage media, developing in the kernel mode of operating systems and programming in system level, etc. It's full of difficulties to design a data acquisition card with high speed in the work of image processing. In fact, how to program a device driver in windows NT is the most difficult and the most abstruse work in windows programming field.In this paper, in the first we discuss the way to design a data acquisition card with high speed based PCI local bus, then we implement the device driver to acquisit the image data with high speed in real time in the kernel mode of system based on researching deeply of the mechanism and structure of the kernel mode in windows NT operating system. At the end we develop the program of accessing storage media directly and display image data with high speed and great capacity in real time. The method discussing in this paper has been applied in the project of HRIS. We will improve it in the future.
