Entering a good higher school was regarded highly in China, so the entrance guide was a very important thing for every family. Now the students and their family usually made their entrance choice only based on the academic achievement, but at the end they found their choice was not always the best and fittest one. The students and their family were in urgent need of the entrance guide, thus done some research on entrance guide was obviously a worthwhile job. Whereas there was few jobs had been done on this topic in China, this research was based on psychology and psychometrics, and was in order to develop an entrance guide system for junior high school students, a measurement tool used for entrance guide. The whole work was done for developing an entrance guidance system for junior high school students. There were two stages in the research. The first stage was the seedtime for developing work. In this stage, the relative problems were discussed (such as the ability (aptitude) theory, the career interest theory, etc.); and at the same time the relative students' psychological traits, involving aptitude, career interest, and learning adaptability, were analyzed (the ninth grade and the tenth grade students involved); and through this stage two relative psychological tests, Multiple Dimension Aptitude Test Battery and Career Interest Scale, were revised. In the second stage, the development process of the entrance guide system for junior high school students was carried out step by step. The aptitude and career interest were considered as the two dimension of the entrance guide system, and was proof-tested by the structural equation model, which results supported this two-dimension hypothesis. Accordingly, there were two parts in the guide system. One part was about the aptitude test, consisted of seven subtests: verbal reasoning, spatial imagining, mathematic reasoning, computer capacity, abstract reasoning, physical knowledge, and sentence recomposing. The other part was about the career interest test, including eight aspects: career longing, curriculum desire, entertainment after school, activity preference, job preference, work environment preference, self-estimate of one's abilities, and discuss future with someone else. After three times modification and testing, the psychometric indices of the guide system were become well and stable. Furthermore, the guide system was primarily launched into applying, with four typical case studies, the practicability and serviceability of the guide system was showed swiftly. The entrance guide system for junior high school students that was developed in this research was one-upping in the entrance guide field in China. Due to the subjects in this research only came from Shanghai, so if it was used out of Shanghai, the explanation of the system testing results need to be cautious. The students were growing all the times, therefore the guide system, which used for helping them also need to be updating.
