School is a planned, organized place for systematic education and teaching. It makes contribution to the social development and progress mainly through cultural heritage and the fostering of talent. Especially in the modern society, the school's development and change are considered to be closely related to the development of society, which become an important aspect of the surging wave of reform in the world. This study analyzes and unscrambles the term of school, the history of school development and change, the problems and causes in the present school development and change, predicting the trends of school development and change to provide reference to actual school development.The content of this study consists of four parts:Introduction puts forward the problem we want to discuss from the perspectives of theory and practice, collecting and criticizing the relevant literature, defining the concepts of school, school development and change, clarifying the purpose and principles of this study, the thoughts, methods and innovative ideas of this study.The first chapter mainly reviews and summarizes the history of school development and change. School sprouted from the time of collection, gave birth to the time of agriculture. It evolved over a long time with the agriculture times, showing the obvious differences between the East and West. This dissertation analyzes the causes of ancient China economy from prosperity to eclipse, and thinks that the school of the East and West both evolves out of the civilization of agriculture, having the same characteristics, namely, privilege, un-productivity, Non-continuousness and non-system, strong teacher authority and the exclusion of women, individual teaching, experience in management, following ancient things and closed mind.In the industrial era, the school has undergone a tremendous development and change, exhibiting the features of nationalization, secularism and systemization, publicity and nationalization, productivity, the mode of teaching class and related factory innuendo, hierarchy management and international organizations involved in gradually. The school in this period reflects the modern society crisis based on the production of large machines, the segregation between school and real life, the crisis of factory metaphor, the limitations of hierarchical management system, the conservative schools, public suspicion, educational shortcomings, the school disease etc, making people suspect the existence of school.School is undergoing an all round reform in the world as information age is coming under the serious critic of school. The focuses of this change is primarily on digital campus building, the openness of school and socialization, the diversification on the mode of establishing school, reconstruction of teaching mode, school-based management, the structure of the school reconstruction, democracy, the progress on fair play, internationalization and localization, and so on.The second chapter mainly reviews the driving mechanisms of the school development, focusing on the problems of present school development. The driving powers of the school development come from the combination of the System power both outside and inside school. Outside system powers on school which bring and restrict the school development are primarily productivity, politics, culture (including religion), geographic surroundings and population etc, while inside system powers on school which initiate the school development are mainly the arousal and exertion of human being themselves, interests gamble, the initiative reform of school facilities, self organization of the school system, the education power of schools and so on. It is the disorders and complicated power clusters by the way of various competition, selection, integration, dialogue and cooperation that shift into the power and resultant force on the school development. Therefore, the history of the school development is also the history during which the two way power factors from outside system and inside school system cooperate and affect each other. This change is not only organized by others but also by itself, not only stable but also abrupt changes, and the process of difference and coordination from one to more and vice versa.Owing to the factors which affect the school development mechanism are disordered and complicated, the effort to make school develop in information age is also under crisis, full of problems, mainly showing the decline of students scores: and creativity, emerging new unfair problems ,absence of real reforms and overflow of formalizing reforms, negative effects of firm schools, the growing difference on schools ,the problems ofknowledge gap and the digital gap, principals and teachers in an embarrassing situation in school and so on. The main cause lies in the inharmonious of inner and outside system power factors. Among them, the differences of the factors outside school system are: the differences between the level of economic development and school development and change, the difference between problems caused by policy making and implementing and school changes needing clear and continuous direction, culture tradition and negative effects to school development caused by market culture, the differences between limited realization of the reforming subjects outside schools and the reforming request to rational spirit; The differences of inner factors in the school system are: the differences between the position of hired experts and their academic consciousness as theorists, the rejection to the change theories and policy caused by blind confidence on practice wisdom of reforming subjects in the schools, the differences between the conservation of school organization and the quickness required by development and change, the differences of different subjects making school reform hard and complicating, and so on.The conclusion of this dissertation points out the final destination of school development and change is individual development and social progress, and maintains that school development and change need the support of reform on social surroundings and rational thoughts of all reforming subjects. Based on this, the dissertation clarifies the trend of school development and change, that is, standing on the level of the world to develop and reform continuously; focusing on the value of innovation and personality cultivating; caring for life in process and experiencing the growth; using the technology of digital network and promoting information share and interaction; managing through dialogue and co-leading; being flexible and personal on types and rich in content; sharing interactive, openness and communication on the form and gaining outside support; coordinating in inner and outside system and developing harmoniously.
