This study explores the lives of Korean Chinese women married to South Korean men and investigates, with in-depth interviews, the key dynamics in international marriage since China's open door policy.This study examines domestic and international backgrounds, motives, passages, models, current conditions, and functions of Korean Chinese women's international marriage. A comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of their international marriage in this study is provided by the perspective of cultural anthropology and an interdisciplinary approach that draws on sociology, ethnology, and women's studies.The Introduction states the research problems, the purpose of research, the research methods, and key analytic frameworks. Chapter 1 explores domestic and international environmental factors that shape Korean Chinese women's international marriage. The transnational flow of capital, technology, information, and population is unprecedented in the current age of globalization. Especially, the feminization of international migration is increasingly evident. At this juncture, the open door policy of the Chinese government has brought momentous changes to the Korean Chinese community, accompanied by changes in the traditional lifestyle of Korean Chinese women.
