The opening of Shanghai in 1843 disclosed a new page of Shanghai' history that made her change from a national trade port into an international business city. "Business on the base of port and city on the base of business", business was the reason of Shanghai' emerging in modern China. By means of business, Shanghai had founded her position of multi-fuctional economical center in 1930'. She was not only natinal and international center in trade, but also a national center in fianence, and communication.Shanghai' commercial education in modern times with the development of Shanghai, promoted the process of Shanghai' modenization. It entered a new pieriod whitch meant the beginning of modern commercial educational, after the opening, on the hitorical base of system and the system that "sons of a businessman must be a businessman for ever", on the background of reform in the modern business. The commercial education in modern shanghai might be seprated into two periods. The first one was the seeding period of the commercial education in modern Shanghai characterised by the social education for compradors,and the second one was the period of development and evolution.During the second period, besides the social education,school commercial education came into being and became promprous, which stood for the main stream of the commercial education in modern Shanghai.The direct introduction of trade between China and the West changed the limited situation of Shanghai outward trade, changed the structure of inner trade between ports, changed the whole structure of Shanghai commerce, which caused the deep change for traditional businessmen...
