The development of sport has close relationship to education. Especially in the time of youngsters, elementary education is very important. One of the successful experiences of Western countries, especially of America, is a whole system of training elite teen-ager athletes. And the close combination of sport and education is the greatest character of this system. However, now in China, the present sport system and education system to a great degree limit the development of collegiate sport. The collegiate sport could be improved and accelerated, provided the sport is combined with education. And the core of the combination is how to deepen both the sport and the education system and how to sustain the competitive sport healthy and rapid development.Documentation, visiting, statistics and logic analysis have been adopted in this study. Through the study on the principles, the organization, legislative process, the recruitment of student-athletes, events structure and competition market of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the character and law of American collegiate competitive sport has been put forward. At the same time, some suggestions and help could be given to the development of competitive sport in China. The conclusions are following:1. National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) in America is the management organization of American collegiate competitive sport and it is a non-profitable organization. The executive committee of NCAA oversees Association-wide issues and shall ensure that each division operates consistent with the main purposes of NCAA. According to the event arrangement, stadium and facility and athletes number, the member of association could be divided into division I, Division II and division III. At the same time, member institutions could be divided into active membership, affiliated membership, provisional membership, corresponding membership and member conference due to the position the institution occupies. And different member institutions have different rights and dues. NCAA is the core of the American collegiate competition.2. The principles of NCAA guarantee the healthy development of collegiate competition and university sport. The principles and regulations are very important to the management and administration of NCAA. All the competitions and games should abide by the principles and regulations.3. The student-athletes of NCAA should have elite sport ability. Besides it, the following levels should be reached: graduation from high-school, minimum core grade-point average, minimum SAT or ACT test score and completion of 13 core courses. About the competition it could be divided into two kinds, the championship and regular one. The events could be divided into fall, spring and winter events.4. There are two kinds of administrative systems, depended and independed systems. There are strict regulations guarantee the study and life of the student-athletes in America.5. The financial income of NCAA includes enterprises aid, the television right, championship income, merchant selling. Through these above parts, NCAA gets the economic foundation ofdevelopment.6. There are some problems during the process of holding high-level sport teams in China, such as, absence of elite sportsmen, limited student resources, unharmonious relationship between colleges and sport department and the bad influence to the whole competitive market.7. There are some countermeasures and solutions which could accelerate the combination of Chinese competitive sport and high education, such as, the construction of management organization, the unified admission requirement, the strict regulations of study, the training of college competitive market and the administrative role of sport system.
