This dissertation surveys the ideological factors that influence America's policy towards the Philippines. Besides introduction and conclusion, the main body consists of six chapters.The introduction includes the following content: (1) the significance, purpose and research methods of the dissertation; (2) the study status quo and achievements related to this topic home and abroad; (3) the innovations, difficulties and future study task of this dissertation.The first chapter is about the relationship between ideology and America's foreign policy. After examining the different understanding of the concept of ideology home and abroad, the author gives her own concept of ideology. Then, the author points out that America is a country that pays much attention to ideology. Ideology is not only America's aim of foreign policy, but an important tool of implementing it.The second chapter is about the ideological factors that influence the formulating and implementing of America's policy towards the Philippines. After briefly introducing the history of American-Philippine relations, the author summarizes the main ideological factors that influence America's policy towards the Philippines in the past one hundred years, namely, Anglo-Saxon Superiority Complex, American System Perfectionism, Communism Expansion, and Human Rights Entitled by God.The third chapter is about Anglo-Saxon Superiority Complex and America's policy towards the Philippines. Such an ideology has an undeniable influence on America's policy towards the Philippines, especially on two issues: one is about how to deal with the Philippines after American-Spanish War.
