This thesis discussed a two-level issue. One is the effect of china's foreign trade system reform; the other is the national economic growth effect resulting from the foreign trade reform. The researching findings of this thesis shows that over the past 20 years, the step-by-step reform of foreign trade has gradually transformed China from a trade protectionist system into a managed free trade system. This change has greatly prevented the distortion of the consumption market and factor market brought about by the traditional foreign trade system, led to the efficient allocation of resources and the gain in total factor productivity, improved the international competitiveness of Chinese enterprises, promoted high-speed growth of foreign trade in China, and has accelerated the growth of the national economy through the transmission mechanism of foreign trade growth and the stimulating effect of trade structural reform on the overall economic structural reform. At the same time, the analysis in the text shows that as the reformation in China is like "crossing a river by feeling the stones", there is no existing mode to follow and the direction of the reform is not clear enough at the beginning. As a result, just like the reform in the whole economic system, the reform in the foreign trade system is obviously on trial, and the interest group involved is more complicated due to the uniqueness of the foreign trade realm. All this has made the reform of the foreign trade system seem to be more difficult, and made the error in the reform too hard to avoid. The conclusion in the text suggests that it is a complicated and long-term process for developing countries to realize the transformation of their trading system through opening. But as a transitional economy, we are turning from the planned economy to a market economy while changing trade protection into trade liberalism, and such a dual target requires a dual policy tool to realize it. The opening reform of foreign trade system can not only accelerate institutional innovation, but is also beneficial to the institutional imitation and introduction, so as to speed up the institutional reformation, develop future advantage and realize long-term economic growth.
