Songs of Baishi Daoren is a masterpiece of cidiao (tonal pattern and rhyme词调)songs written by Jiangkui (1155—1221, in South Song Dynasty). According to the Zhang Yishu's Edition(刻本),the masterpiece recorded more than 102 songs, adopting three different tablatures - Suzi tablature(俗字谱),Jianzi tablature(减字谱)and Lvlvzi tablature(律吕字谱).The 17 songs in Suzi tablature from the masterpiece, however, are the only cidiao songs that are remained with music score among the over 20,000 ci (a type of classical Chinese poetry originated from Song Dynasty) handed down from Song Dynasty, which now becomes a precious historical material in studying Chinese music history. Therefore, it is necessary and important to have a further study on the Suzi tablature of Baish daoreni's 17 cidiao songs, and finally to find out its true significance. This study possesses important value in the fields of Chinese ancient literature history and music history as well.This article is composed of 7 chapters, introduction, bibliography and postscript, covering such subjects as the historical study of Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs, songs' remark, the present study about Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs, the study of Suzi tablature's sign, its proofreading, and sign, Gongdiao(pitches and modes宫调), notation interpretation(译谱), etc. Each chapter studies one or several aspects of Baishi Daoren's Suzi tablature songs. Based on this, it furthers its complete study by from the external of Suzi tablature songs to the tablature itself, and finally put forwards many new standpoints. The final achievement of this article is to make a new notation interpretation for Baishi's 17 Suzi tablature songs. It should be made clear that the new notation interpretation is made based on the study of Suzi tablature's proofreading, remarks, tablature character, sign and Gongdiao. The first chapter mainly works on the carding of the author, content and edition of Baishi Daoren's Songs, narrates Jiang Baishi's great achievement, and studies the book's overall content and edition sources. The second chapter makes a detailed remark to the 17-songs'characters, and studies the author's composition background and the lyric's connotation. The third chapter is about the historical study situation and present study situation about Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs, makes a clear carding to the previous study achievements on sign, Gongdiao, pitch standard and scale degrees application as well. Then, evaluates the rationality of the above study, finally draw a preliminary conclusion of this article. The forth chapter makes a complete statistics survey on the application of notes(谱字)and signs(符号)in this Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs to have a general understanding about the application of notes and signs, then to proof read so as to prepare a reliable copy for a correct notation interpretation. The fifth chapter pays attention to the study of the signs adopted in the songs. The study of the signs adopted in the songs is the most disputable issue at present study on Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs and needs urgent resolving. It is also the key point to the interpretation of Baishi Daoren's Suzi tablature songs. After careful textual research, this article thinks that there are six signs adopted in all Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs. Based on historical documents and by adopting the study approach of demonstration, the article makes a profound study on the six signs. The sixth chapter studies the Gongdiao adopted in Baishi Daoren's Suzi tablature songs, and makes a textual research on the essentials of Gongdiao from factors of notes, end sound(结音)adopted in the songs and historical documents as well. The seventh chapter, based on the previous six chapters, makes a complete notation interpretation for Jiang Baishi's Suzi tablature songs. To do so, the article records the notation by adopting the staff, and on the base of one-character for one-tune policy(一字一音)for beat and rhythm, measuring off the bar through the standpoint of rhyme beat(均拍),eventually tries to reveal the original of Baishi Daoren's Suzi tablature songs.
