| Although Buddhism is not the creation of Vietnamese, it has deeply absorbed the Vietnamese traditional religion and culture after introduction. The Vietnamese people have transformed it into an unique Buddhist with Vietnam flavor, one of the most attractive features is Buddhism Goddesses in the North of Vietnamese.This paper is divided into four chapters, reveals North Vietnam nature and characteristics of Buddhist goddesses.In the "Introduction" section, I'd like to briefly introduce Vietnam's ethnic and religious profile, depict a rough outline of North Vietnam Buddhist Goddesses, epitome the current status of academic research on this issue, as well as state my own researching ideas and method on the above basis.The first chapter "Vietnamese Buddhism and its Historical Changes" mainly summarizes the history of Buddhism in Vietnam. The purpose of this chapter is the description of Buddhism origin and propagation in Vietnam, its changes in Vietnam social and historical progress, as well as looking for the source of Goddesses and its development at the same time.The second chapter "Kwan-yin Religion" focuses on the North Vietnam Buddhist Kwan-yin Goddess. This chapter firstly summarizes the translation of Kwan-yin, then describes the legend of Miaoshan Kwan-yin and Thi Kinh Kwan-yin and the historical story of the Princess to the Goddess of Y Lan, then analyzes the outstanding phase of faith, inspired by faith, Buddhist beliefs, the finally clarifies the Early pathogenic culture connotation, life psychological sense and collective representation.Chapter III "Four Buddha" describes the unique phenomenon of Vietnamese Buddhism:Four Buddha Religion including Cloud Mother, Rain Mother, Thunder Mother, Lightening Mother formed from four legends of faith. On the basic of their formation, function, temples (mainly at Dau Temple) etc, analyzes Vietnam's agricultural goddesses with a combination of Indian Buddhism. Four Buddha religion appeared in the Early time, so it is the cornerstone of Buddhism in Vietnam.The fourth chapter "Mother Religion" mainly describe and analyses Mother Religion that peered with primitive culture in Vietnam, full of "I am in you, you are in me" philosophy of Buddhism. Mother Religion in Vietnam is closely related to rice culture, the Apparition of Mother also reflects the Vietnamese world view and philosophy of Yin and Yang. Four Mother Religion includes four goddesses such as, that is Heaven Mother, Mountain Mother, Land Mother and Water Mother. The highest Goddess is Lieu Hanh Mother. Each has her own origin and magic energy, meaning a natural phenomenon sanctified by the Vietnamese people.In the final "Conclusion" section, I'd like to point out that since Vietnam is a rice civilization, Vietnamese women in the production and life has their job with the water from morning till night. In the early history, The importance of water has long been a deep understanding of culture, water using enlightenment is a kind of wisdom and life philosophy. Mother in the Vietnamese Buddhist culture is a profound decision of women's culture. Vietnamese women's culture are mainly created from the antiquity to the present by the outstanding contribution of the women themselves; In the other hand, Mother in Vietnamese Buddhist culture continues to shape the women psychology, has always been the essence of Vietnamese women spirit and it is branded into the hearts of generations of Vietnamese women, inspires and encourages the Vietnamese women to continuously make more achievement and contribution. Positive interaction between Mother religion and Women effectively consolidates and develops both of them, it also is the significance of the Goddesses in Vietnamese Buddhist culture system. This interaction will help today's male-dominated world in understanding and pondering the status of women as well as women's culture again. |
