Pan Tianshou Bird And Flower Painting Art Research

When we enter into the 21^st century, more and more Chinese artists realized that the Chinese art must have their own characters and display languages which can strike a sympathetic chord if they wanted to have their own unique influence among the world artists. This is the question that Mr. Pan Tianshou worked hard to think and tried to solve half century ago. It will help us to realize the way of contemporary art development consciously by the research of Mr. Pan Tianshou.Mr. Pan Tianshou, as one of the most famous Chinese painting artists whose works have Chinese traditional painting characters in the 20^th century of China, has achieved an outstanding contribution in the field of flower-and-bird painting. The thesis focuses on his flower-and-bird painting, dividing six chapters to discuss his contributions. By the means of the Relativity and System's theory, this paper discusses Mr. Pan Tianshou's contribution in six chapters. This paper introduces Pan Tiansh-ou's background of that time, form of flower-and-bird painting's theory and its characters, evolution of the art creative styles and its main artistic characteristics, his contributions to the Chinese flower-and-bird teaching, and enlightenments he brought to the development of the modern Chinese painting.When the thousands-year-old Chinese civilization was greatly shocked and affected by the western culture at the beginning of the 20th century, Mr. Pan Tianshou made a wise thinking consciously; he persisted in tradition, actively preceded creative practices, and stressed on character of nation, inheritance and time. The tradition which Mr. Pan Tianshou chose was neither confined nor conservative, while it was established on the base of Pan Tianshou's thoroughly study on both Chinese traditional art and western art. Pan Tianshou re-explained and re-explored the spirit of Chinese traditional culture by modern conception and modern aesthetic interest. These also are what we make effort to today. Modern art must be regionalized, and regional art must be modernized, thus we can push the pluralistic development of the world art forward.
