It is the first thesis of discussing poems on calligraphy on Song dynasty systematically. Poems on calligraphy, especially of Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and Mi Fu, had a high status in terms of calligraphy on Song dynasty. Policy for culture, vitalization of Confucianism, idealist philosophy's coming forth and renovation of poems and articles established a strong basis of the beginning and development of poems on calligraphy, which started at the point of poems for Mengying's seal character, reached the height in the middle and late of North Song dynasty and declined on South Song dynasty.Poems on calligraphy are of great help to the history of calligraphy on Song dynasty, such as love for seal character at the beginning of Song dynasty, calligraphy campaign of back to the ancients in the middle, and popularity of Su Huang Mi and Cai's calligraphy on South Song dynasty. The outstanding value of poems on calligraphy is that important aesthetical ideas of calligraphy embodied in the poems were original of ideas for sense and of advocating the ancients and Jin's.Great impacts of poems on calligraphy on Song dynasty on poems on calligraphy later is showed by subject, form, ingeniousness of using quotation, sufficiency of symbolical critics as well as depth and breadth of ideas of calligraphy.
