A Style Research About Zhanghui Novel Of Ming Dynasty

Zhanghui fiction, together with Huaben fiction, Chuanqi fiction and Biji fiction have constructed the major style of China's ancient fiction system. The Romance of Three Kingdoms and Outlaws of the Marsh announced the coming into being of this fiction style. Therefore the intellectual review version of the Four Amazing Fictions witnessed the mature of the Zhanghui style. Focusing on the Zhanghui fiction in Ming Dynasty, this dissertation tries to reveal the overall picture of the Zhanghui fiction style. The first part of the dissertation is a general research which mainly dealing with the denomination, origination and gradual changing of the Ming Zhanghui fiction. The second part is a micro discussion on three import topics but have not attracted enough notice. There are one appendix: the addendum and syria recorded about the . Zhanghui fiction in Ming Dynasty, which is the basis of the dissertation's main part. In principle, this dissertation regards the style as a formative conception, though mainly focusing on the narrative manners and style form of the Zhanghui fiction, this dissertation does not restrict to the pure formative analyses but also take the related outside elements into account. Due to this dissertation, the style of Zhanghui fiction is "a meaning form".The first chapterAfter the coming into being of Zhanghui fiction, it actually had been in an embarrassing situation because of the unconformity of it's name and denotation. This chapter has discriminated the different denotations in different historical period by analyzing the development of the Zhanghui fiction. In this way, the research object has been set clear.The second chapterThe forming of Ming Zhanghui fiction style is the result of composition forces. In one way, the development of social politics, economy and culture has created the appropriate conditions for Zhanghui fiction. Also, the other former fiction styles has offered models for it. This chapter analyzes the multiple elements related to the development of Zhanghui fiction style and it mainly focuses on four aspects: Huaben fiction; Sujiang and Bianwen; historical biography and poesy verses.The third chapterIt is not a balanced development history of Ming Zhanghui fiction. During the 150 years from Hongwu Emperor to Zhengde Emperor, there were not many fiction coming out and the mainly spreading way was by hand-written copies. From Jiajing Emperor to Wanli Emperor period, the historical and mysterious fictions were very popular. And the legends of hero had been differentiated from the historical fictions. The outcoming of Jin Ping Mei is the symbol the birth of Shiqing fiction. From Taichang Emperor to Chongzhen Emperor period, the creation of Zhanghui fiction keeping raising up. Till the early Qing Dynasty,the intellectual review reversion of the Four Amazing Fictions were the symbol of the mature of Zhanghui fiction style. This chapter has done some diachronic analyses on the Zhanghui fiction style by dividing the development into three major stages.The fourth chapterThe Four Amazing Fictions not only set up the major genres of Ming Zhanghui fiction, but also set excellent examples by its normative style for the aftertime comers. To some extend, the developing history of Ming Zhanghui fiction is actually the history of the Four Amazing Fictions. A specific exploration of these four fictions will greatly help us to have a more deep and clear understanding of the style of Ming Zhanghui fiction. This chapter mainly deals with the development of Ming Zhanghui fiction style by comparing the style differences among different versions.The fifth chapterThere are four major genres of Ming Zhanghui fiction: historical fiction, legends of heroes, mysterious fiction and Shiqing fiction. Under the surface of different topics, there are still substantial criteria on the organization and structure. Under the premise of uniform style, different Zhanghui fiction has different narrative modes which actually lead to the peculiarity of inner characteristics. This chapter mainly discussed the narrative style of historical and mysterious fiction after the analyses of developing history of four genres of Zhanghui fiction.The sixth chapterIt is very common to use illustrations in Ming Zhanghui fiction which aims to make the reading easier and more relaxed. This chapter regards the combination of words and pictures as a special narrative method. It illustrates the illustrations' impact on the Ming Zhanghui fiction style by analyzing different narrative functions of different illustrations patterns.
