The debate between the East and the West, and between the present andthe ancient, is at the center of contemporary Chinese painting culture. Mydissertation, "Explorations on the Blend of Sino-foreign Paintings", discussesand scrutinizes the blend theories of contemporary Chinese painting circle andtheir practices in an all-around way, and expounds the profound background inwhich the Sino-foreign drawing blend theory came into being. This dissertation,on the basis of illustrating the blend theory, its culture and theoreticalfoundation and related practices, analyzes the problems existing within thetheory, and makes a thorough analysis of the conflicts between the practicesof the blend theory and traditional thoughts and ideas of drawings, tries toreorganize and outline the theories of Sino-foreign integration theories,illustrate some topics concerning what and how to integrate and makespredictions about the development of traditional Chinese paintings.In the development history of traditional Chinese paintings, thecontemporary era is a period full of radical changes, concomitant of radicaldisputes of Sino-foreign painting blend. In this context, this dissertationconcentrates on and makes a systematic research into the Sino-foreign blendof traditional Chinese paintings against the historical background, which willreward the understanding of the existing blend theory and credit this researchwith theoretical value, and will also benefit Chinese painters in theirreinvestigation practices.
