In the new era (since 1979) of China, in the literary circles, there is a group of writers with specific styles, who experienced the most absurd Chinese contemporary period, the "Great Leap Forward", "anti-rightist" and "Cultural Revolution" which still lingered in the their minds. They use "the black humor" in the novels to express their metaphysical pondering on humanity and the world and established a new school by their unique style. Their novels and those by the western writers by using "the black humor" are directly related from their origin. It is indicated in some material that, these Chinese humorous novels have received influence from the west by way of " black humor". It is mainly showed in three aspects: language, character and situation by way of black humor. Their esthetics style is of humor and oppression.Under the influence of black humor, these writers in modern era have formed their own humorous styles. However, on the whole, these writers have differences from the Black Humor School. They face a completely different receiver environment in China; therefore it is impossible to accept the black humor completely. They'd rather adopt technique transplant and reference. But, on the literary style, they have introduced new art element to the literary circle, subverted traditional ideas on humanity, and have taken artistic elements of the post- modernism into Chinese modern novels.This thesis is composed of five chapters. The Introduction discusses the humor style should take a seat in modern literary circle as the lofty style and the decadent style did. It also points out that these humorous novels written after 80's have strong denial consciousness. And the so-called "century's end" mood displayed in these black humor novels, was quite popular and universal at that time among the Chinese intellectual.Chapter One discusses the cultural background, artistic features of black humor and its translation and spread in China.
