Naturalism In Western Philosophy And Social Theory

More and more people pay attention to the theory of naturalism and the way of it's thinking. How to define naturalism,and how to understand the characteristic of naturalism exactly, and apply it to the study of social theory , is the keystone of this paper.Around this issue, firstly,the conception and the characteristic of naturalism was defined in this paper. The conclusion came from the cleaning up for the west philosophy theory.In this paper, naturalism explainsed universe,society and human being by point of view of nature ,it's one of monism of philosophy.Naturalism opposed to occultism,transcendentism, scientism,practising and so on.Therefore,the way of naturalism was applied abroadly in the developing history of the west social theory. In the early days of the study of social theory,it represents empiricism and positivism.Since the middle period of twenty century ,the orthodox consensus position of positivism was oppugned and weakened in the study of social theory.How to insist on scientism and objectivity in the study of social theory ;at the same time,how not to exclude the reflexinity and animadvertinon spirit of ontological philosophy and metaphysics ,how to end the imbroglio and disunity phase in social studying, unity and integration the social studying paradigm,become the common topic in philosophy and social studying. Naturalism is thought much of because of rationality.Naturalism offer the probability for implementing the studying subject.
