The family is the basic unit of social life and structure which founded on the relationship of marriage, blood and adaptation. In this paper, we discussed the family form in North Dynasty. Now we generalized the contents and main points of this paper as followed in sequence of writing.In the preface we discussed why to choose the subject and the academic value in this study firstly. Then we defined the connotations of the family and the conceptions related to it and referred to the difference and relationship between them. After that we reviewed the former research on this title in both synthetic study and special study. In this foundation we pointed out the question need to be solved and the method on how to do the research.In chapter I, We divided the basic type of the family in North Dynasty from the perspective of sociology. It can be roughly divided into the big and small according to the family size and the nuclear family, the stem family, the extended family and the other family in the standard of intergenerational levels and kinship. Through the statistics and analysis of related materials, we found that the small family with the structure of the nuclear family was widespread in general. But it still differentiated with that so-called "five" traditionally. The big family most of which structure was stem and extended was more prevalent among the bureaucracy, the royal, and the wealthy .It was typically generalized as 100-House.Finally we investigated the various elements such as nature and man-made impacting on the size and structure of the family in North Dynasty.In Chapter II, we discussed the status and obligations of family members. Generally, the elders were the subjects of rights, and the young were just opposite within the family. But the father's power was different between Hu and Han. The father's power in Han was strengthened, however, in Hu it was contained and divided. In the meantime, the status, rights and obligations among the sons were not the same. The difference between Di and Shu is the decisive factor. On the one hand ,the family status of women showed a delicate difference between Hu and Han...
