This thesis investigates the interaction between the audience and the literature (IAL) in the period of 17 years since the liberation from 1949 to 1966.Our materials are correspondence about literature on newspapers and periodicals. The aim of this study is to probe into the feasibility and restricted effect which ideology controls the audience.In this thesis, according as discourse character we separate all these audience discourse into three classes: the masses audience discourse, the professional and the political audience discourse. At the same time, we separate all these audience into three classes: the masses audience, the professional audience and the political audience according as societal role. But I must emphasize the fact that the discourse character and societal role are not counterpoints. They are intersecting and mixed. This work pays more attention to the three kinds of audiences' feedback to language literature representation, such as movies, poetries, etc. Meanwhile, the audience, especially the film or drama audience whose reflection had no effect from the lamplight and the scenery can be included in our research field.The structure of this thesis is divided into three pieces and ten chapters, besides the preface and the conclusion.The first piece includes three chapters. The first chapter describes the ideal vision that how the audience and the literature could interact each other, which built by the chairman Mao from his classical Yan'an speech and so on. The second chapter emphasize particularly on historical fact that how this IAL ideal vision has been put into the literature practice. In the third chapter, we review the ideal vision and his practice, so we find his excellence and demerit.From chapter 4 to chapter 7, the second piece of the work, we give the audience theory. Chapter 4 is a connecting link between the preceding and the following. In this chapter, we study how manipulative discourse adjusts the vision and how republic of letters expatiate it. This is the discourse space which the audience creates in the 17 years. From chapter 5 to chapter 7, we orderly demonstrate the elementary character, developmental skeleton and reciprocity of three audience discourse.In the third piece, based on the ideal vision analysis in the first piece and the audience analysis in the second piece, we investigate the modes of IAL during the 17 years all around. We figure out that the criticisms audience and the self-questioning author are the characteristic during this period (1949-1957) in the chapter 8. The literature edit and the political authority are the main research points in chapter 9. In the chapter 10, we will show that the control of all the reading action and the audience reflection is the specialty during the period of 1962-1966.A conclusion is drawn in the end, which figure out that the lecture, the 1979's Congratulations made by DengXiaoping gave great promote to the IAL ideal vision.
